 I
first realized my dream of vacation rental ownership in
1994 while living on Maui. I bought my first oceanfront
condo and before long, I was the proud owner of 5 oceanfront
condos in South Kihei, consisting of 1 and 2 bedrooms.
They were all marketed on my website www.mauicondos.com.
The business grew to a mid-size management company, servicing
many happy owners and renters for over a decade.
Over that
period of time, I came to realize what guests like and
enjoy in a rental property and what really makes a good ‘hostess’.
With that knowledge, I offer my Donner Lake Cottage to you.
What makes this property so special? For starters, it was
built in late 2004 and is brand new. It replaced a garage
that was built in the 50’s when Donner Lake started
to see some life other than wildlife. The cottage has real
knotty pine wood doors, cabinets, trim. The kitchen is
fully equipped with everything you need to boil water or
make a
holiday dinner. The queen bed is a comfortable pillow-top
mattress. The appliances are top of the line, complete
with dishwasher, side by side fridge with ice maker, water
purifier,
microwave, washer/dryer, toaster, complete set of dishes,
pots and pans. Tastefully furnished and incredibly comfortable.
And I know you’ll enjoy the incredible lake views
from the deck and the interior of the cottage as much as
I do.
The yard is much like an English garden in the summer,
with Tahoe’s most showy plants and flowers. I enjoying
spending time here and so do my daughters and granddaughter
when they
come up to visit from Los Angeles.
There is so much to do
in the area all year ‘round
that I find it almost overwhelming! Too many places to
explore and not enough time. Donner Lake is a special place
and a
well kept Tahoe secret. While everyone thinks the great
lure is Lake Tahoe, many miss the out of the way places.
Nearby
the cottage is Cold Stream. You’ll find outstanding
snow shoeing and x-country skiing in the winter and in
the spring, summer and fall, the hiking is outstanding,
with
trails leading to Tinker’s Nob and the Tahoe Rim
Trail. I enjoy a picnic lunch with my dogs next to the
stream or
by the lake. Sharing my local knowledge is something I
enjoy, so please pick my brain about the area.
I’m inviting you to enjoy a piece of paradise in the
magnificence that is known as California’s Sierra Nevada
at my Donner Lake Cottage.

to the Truckee Donner Land Trust.
The mission of the Truckee Donner Land Trust is to preserve
and protect important recreational, scenic and historic open
spaces in the Truckee/ Donner area. Founded in 1990, the
Land Trust has protected over 3,300 acres of recreational,
scenic and historic open spaces in our corner of the Sierra.
We have aggressive plans to protect as many as 15,000 acres
in the next few years.
